no offence here but what is disgust between judges will never see the light of day until a court defines what is best

if anyone wants to know the cctv reference its easy enough to send a sar request to the courts requesting this info

solicitors will be well aware of what can and cant be used if there any good in there job no matter how much we want to discuss or deny it exists

dont mess with settings and try to use the highest possible for best picture not reduced because dumb users want the recording to last months

ive said it often enough on here you guys spend thousands on tool gear and your cctv systems are the poorest going for what you own

homeowners are the worst

yet your all peeved when your gear gets nicked

you might own cctv but you dont use the dna spray water or smoke them out so they cant see a thing to pinch anything

I have already provided this and yet again you refuse to access information to establish which court circuit has what criteria and once again your refusal to establish facts then employ diversionary tactics and attempt to deflect the blame for your own failings to establish these facts is nobodys fault but YOURS.

I will give you a little clue, your circuit is the Welsh Circuit.

Why would a SAR help? I would send an SAR if maybe I wanted cctv footage of myself or someone else from another party but what’s that going to prove??

Dev you are crossing over two areas here and not noticing the difference. For the purpose of detecting crime means many things hence why the police standards and court evidence standards differ. Any image may be used by the police for investigations but note the word "investigations" as this may be merely one piece of corroborating evidence in a long evidential chain to provide clues for further investigations into a crime or criminal activities and this will only be a part of a long list of evidence.

This is also completely wrong. A subject access request is to ask an organisation what personal information of yours they hold.

SAR is a request for information about yourself which a third party may hold - nothing more. Same with article 15 of GDPR - this is about your access to info companies hold about you and how they store/use that info.

I don’t see how any of that is relevant to what you claim.

The link I posted above is from the home office, which categorically states there are NO minimum requirements for cctv to be admissible as evidence, each case will be decided on its own merit. If you know otherwise then feel free to post some relevant links or info.

I. used to do CCTV up until end of last year I did CCTV and what you said is good enough for the average person to understand and remain inside the law.

You have to laugh.
Waiting for a meeting today, a old friend, who I have worked with in the past needed my help.

As he is a good friend, likes Dooms Bar and brings me some on his visits.

He is on call today, had a call out to a un manned site, a store used by a Garden centre. Agaist the advise they were given on CCTV systems, fitted a Yeskamo system.
Instead of spending a bit more on fixing the Hik Vision system they had. Nowt wrong with the old system. It just needed a days work.
mainly setting up detectors, camera views, triggers and recording speed. Longest job was formating the drives, doing a firm ware update and fitting a torch screen monitor.

But they went ahead and ignored the company recommendations.

Looking at the system it looked like it was working, bare in mind the company my friend works for does not maintain it. No contract was agreed. But he still went to the site on a call out, chargable, to help after another break in

Yeskamo is dead. The DVR hard drive is not working. It is not recording any images.
Oh dear.

But the old Hik Vision kit was

The incident was saved, down loaded. Mr PC Plad was happy with the images. Knowing if needed they can clean them up to a suitable level to be used as evidence for both sides of a posible action.

This kit is 25 years old.
Ok it needs some TLC, but it works.
The old PSU are still kicking out 5amps at 24vdc at the end of 120m of cable runs. Yes the cameras are dirty, The alloy is powdery on the sun shield. The plastic on the PIR's is UV Damaged. But it works.

Yeskamo sytem cameras are in a poor state after 32 weeks. One has condenstaion on the inside of the camera. One is heading for a "white out".

Penny wise, pound foolish.


But it does mean I am getting some doom bar.

I resisted posting because I don't want to put myself in the middle of any arguments

but I was thinking about the things posted here - a customer came in a couple of days back and he's a solicitor so I asked him.... and he said (obviously oversimplifying and dumbing it down) - in court the judge is the law, they can do pretty much whatever the hell they want, they decide what can be evidence and what can't and a lot of the time cctv is **** but it can still be part of the evidence

Cameras are 12vdc, on shot gun cable.

Why is it still in place?
It works.

One camera, covers a gate, what is used as an emergency access for the site and the neighbour, as the sprinkler tank is there.

In November, a unwanted visiter was seen climbing the gate. He was seen moving jerry cans tothe gate. Then Mr Plod arrived with Mrs Plod.

The images were used as evidence.

This shows buy a good system, from a well know maker and set it up right and you are OK.

Shot gun cable is a cable that has power in one side and the 8 core alarm cable on the other.
It looks like a side by side shot gun barrel.

Hickvision POE gear is very good.
