Which one are you thinking of trying then?
I've had a go with Kurust many years ago, but as others have said ^ these kinds of things are only a 'holding exercise' and the enemy generally reappears.
I had thought of going for something similar [after research] but cheapskate me saw Lidl's version and bought it on impulse. It's on, and did the same to outward appearances, but I know I'll be repeating the exercising in another couple of years. If I get that long I'll be happy. The Deox did produce clean metal but it involved too much faffing about on the tiny bit involved. Coupled with Operator error [failure to get rid of all the 'pits'], lassitude and the fact that I have no garage meant that I chose the quick 'n easy route this time.
I don't expect to know much difference in the outcome with time.
It's only a small bit and seems to be a weak spot on certain BMWs - my e39 had it in exactly the same place as it's appeared on the e60.
