One of ours is terrified of the dyson, the other 2 less bothered.
Used to have a cat that would allow you to suck her tail up the pole of the vacuum cleaner! Completely unfazed by it.

For a while, I thought we were going to lose him, but Tarzan is on the mend. Last night he wanted to come in, and his behaviour has returned to more or less normal. He is not hiding or avoiding us any more, and he will accept being fussed, and the abscess wound does not seem to be bothering him much.

BiL had some antibiotic left over from a dental abscess, so I didn't have to order any. Have been putting small amounts on his food, and it seems its helping.

We have distracted him with food on the settee, and I have been bathing the wound with hand warm salty water, swelling has gone down and its looking much better. I could trap him now, and take him to the vet, but don't want to betray his trust. Especially now that he seems OK.

Erm. If that was for the experiment, what did you use for the real thing ?

I broke open the capsules and worked out the dosage based on the medication vets supply, so not to overdo it. We have more than enough.

Bathing it a couple of times a day, which he doesn't seem to mind. Only thing is he wipes his paw over it and licks it, as they do. Ideally one of these cone collars would be the thing, but I don't imagine it would go down too well, and would be off in twenty seconds.

My one doesn't like Henry, something to do with the hose looking like a snake or something.

He will happily sit on top of George to bat at the potted fern... It's just the noise when he's in use.

Admittedly it's a loud and piercing sound even by vacuum cleaner standards, and the pump for the extractor vac is hideous sounding... But it's still not as bad as a 2-stroke.

that looks quite nasty , he must be a tough old boot .I hope you can stay on top of it he's gonna have a lovely bold patch that's quite a gash .

"Lampshade" not gonna be popular with a stray cat.

But is it no something you cant frabicate in house - you dont need a vet for one...

I think you're supposed to stay the course with antibiotics or these things can come back with a vengeance. Fingers crossed!

I don't think SWMBO will go for that, we normally have one at a time, but will ask.

Cats are funny with tap water - it has to sit about for a while for them to start drinking it.

But a dripping tap - they at it like it is Champagne

Tarzan will not touch tap water, or anything in a proper bowl.

Puddle water, anything that has collected, OR, as I spotted the other day, front paws up on the bird bath, supping from there.

I guess that is what "outdoor" cats are used to.

I think they gotta let the chlorine evaporate off out of tap water....?

Our old cat would only drink fresh tap water but a vase of flowers was like watery catnip to her. She knocked over dozens over the years in the attempt to get to the water.

The little white ex-feral cat here I've literally never seen drink water at all in his so far 7 or 8 year life !
He gets wet food and raw chicken most days so no doubt gets most of it through food, which is kind of what I believe cats are designed to do by nature
( there is of course water always available, ie the dogs bowl! )

Our youngest cat Barney, a year old now drinks loads of water, he needs his drinking bowl refilled every day. He seems happy enough with fresh chlorinated water.
