my cat is sick

he's been a bit unsteady on his feet for a few days but eating and i thought he was better. he was fine this morning, i came home this afternoon and he couldn't walk straight and his head was tilted so i took him to t'vitnery.

in my defence of the end of that vid, he'd been on that table for 15 mins before i started filming and showed no signs of falling of.......

burst ear drum. ear drops and antibiotics for 14 days and another visit friday...

he'll be fine.

poor bugger.

I've been trying hard to make sure the cat has water to drink in this heat, he never uses his bowl water and usually finds puddles etc so I put a big saucer outside and fill it up every couple of days, someone told me cats don't drink water near a food source so moving to bowl really helps!

They tend to like any water you haven't given them because cat.

Our experience is any water in a bowl you can't leave a paw print in, will not be drunk.
But any tap that is dripping will be drunk from.
Cats don't seem to like treated water much, but running treated water is a bit more acceptable to them.

Our youngest seems to drink loads of water, not unusual to have to refill the water bowl by evening time having filled it in the morning.

amazing what a boat load of antibiotics does... he's sat on my mouse as punishment because i just shoved two more tablets down his throat and a load of drops in his ear....

Well Kitten Kirsty, went out at 9 last night and never returned. She is just over 6 months and was spayed a couple of weeks ago. As a cat dad I was distraught, am choked with the cold and coughing, so sleeping in the spare bedroom to give my wife some sleep. No sleep at all last night for me: as I was out shaking cat biscuits walking the street in my jammies every hour looking for her. She has never been far from home and never out for a length of time. By 5:30 my wife got up to help me search, no luck. So just before 7:00 my wife thought she heard meowing outside from the bedroom window, so a search of the woodland behind us eventually found her half way up a 60 plus foot tree! No amount of encouragement would get her down, so I had to get the ladders out, held by my wife to recover Kirsty kitten. Am one very tired cat dad after zero sleep though absolutely delighted, as is my wife, Cats!

The bowl needs to marked "cat" so they know it is for them !

Good that he is getting better, but any idea what caused it ?

Shortly after our cat died, a flea bitten feral one showed up in the garden. She had a rats like tail and was in kitten.
We contacted the cats protection group who gave us a trap to catch her.
They took her, the kittens were born but many died (interbreeding maybe ?).
The lady that looked after her initially said in 30 yrs experience she was the most vicious cat she’d ever seen. She wouldn’t go into the cattery without waders, gloves, and her daughter as back up. They clipped her ear to identify her as being neutered before being released. By the time we picked her up we could stroke her. We kept her in a cage for a few weeks and initially she wouldn’t eat. My wife then came up with a “master plan” and fed her my fillet steak. Guess what? That did the job ! We now have the most loving cat that follows us and the dog everywhere and just dotes on love. Hopefully a before and after picture to follow.

One of mine was a burrgre for getting up the tree at the rear and mewing piteously. There was no way I'd risk a broken leg getting a ladder out as it was a really awkward access, so just left him to it, as I'd seen him get up and down trees with no bother.
Of course, he'd reappear at the door when he got hungry.
Didn't stop him trying it again, and again, with exactly the same result.

7 days into shoving pills down him he's resisting more and more, so i had to invest in a pill popper. game changer. ones you figure it out the cat cant spit them out at all. he still doesn't like it but its distressing him far less and he keeps his claws to himself. 1 more week to go and i hope i never have to do this again... poor bugger really hates it.

I am not surprised at all, imagine what would happen though, if someone came up with cat suppositories

Our ex feral doesn't like any of that at all. Mr. Bitey doesn't like being picked at all. I don't know what we will do if he ever needs to go to the vet. Cant imagine even getting him in the basket.
