CATS!!!!

There’s been a young black cat (maybe a year old(ish)) dotting about the place for a couple of months now. Today, he/she decided to come into my house (bloomin’ cold outside).

My cat isn’t too bad with it, but he’s a grumpy old man if his naps get disturbed. Unfortunately, the wee one either wants to play, or cuddle, or chase martians, Toby doesn’t.

9 hours later, s/he’s finally just left for home. Toby sighed with relief.

I fear he may come back, so how do I tell Toby we may have a lodger.

Our kitten has started hunting and bringing in presents. She started low level, earthworms! She likes spiders too but I haven’t told the missus that yet.

Slightly lower key than Megan the b&w, she started on a pigeon and stripped the feathers quietly in the kitchen. Saved a Robin from her and a fledgling Blackbird, don’t know where she managed to get the Parakeet with rigor mortis that looked like it had been laid out for viewing. She gave up hunting when the weight went on.

My first two cats had a killing tally of 2,000 per annum. Mice, voles, rats, moles, rabbits, the odd bird, and a chick stolen from next door’s free range hens (rescued, and sent home). It was like walking through the middle of a miniature battle of the Somme reenactment every morning.

I got really scared the day I saw the two of them stalking the donkey in the next field. No way could they get that through the cat flap (you push, I’ll pull!).

He’s still here, and I’ve forgotten how manic young cats can be. My house may not survive the night.

I had forgotten how flexible young cats are, the old ones approaching 19 and Megan is around 5+ But always was a sturdy girl. Laser pen tires the kitten out a little but not much!

As for your existing lodger, well he'll either allow it or not only time will tell, years ago we tried to add a new cat to our house but our ginger tom was having none of it. He was literally trying to batter the door down to get to it so she had to go, shame really as she had a lovely nature. A few years later we tried again with a kitten, he accepted her just fine although he still tries to duff her up from time to time, mostly they are friends though.

He has a home, and I think it’s just round the corner a bit. If it’s the house I think it is, their first cat came to live here part time, till he got knocked down. Their second one, considered us to be Satan's children, and gave us a serious body swerve.

And yes, 15 minutes ago, me and Toby got up, him for a snack, me for a coffee. Guess who bounced off the settee, and straight to the food bowl.

I’m worried.... it’s gone quiet............

And he’s back........

We had an escapee sheep :sheep:

in our back garden once, our old cat Brian (who was a domesticated farm cat and would tackle just about anything, within reason!) was looking out of his cat flap and then looking at us, then out of the cat flap then back at us, not knowing what to do :laughing:

I think he was asking if you could enlarge the catflap so he could drag it through?
