Parm. Don't even go there. I'm not abusing the RPE at all mate. With all respect, You can't to begin to understand the problem because you're not on the tools.

As I told you, the work was no problem for the sundstrom kit. It purely comes down to 3M cutting corners.

3M have now agreed to a full refund and the kit back. Take from that what you will.

whilst i agree with that i also agree with kayos

its untested and used as a cat reference without any testing done on it so not certificated for the job in question

i know many jobs that argue the same point we can get it built for that its when it comes to being certificated as safe to use under the regulations

the issue is down to health and safety and i think its a question @Parm that could answer

Just a question on this - are ladders tested and certified, or are they manufactured in accordance to specific standards?

I worked at a company where we would manufacture stairs and ladders (occasionally). We used the regulations that were similar to those mentioned previously. We used the materials, methods and design parameters laid out in that publication. The guys were good fabricators and produced good kit.

I was confident that the things we produced were as per regulations and to a good manufacturing standard. At no point where they tested or certified.

When we did lifting beams etc that was a different matter. We manufactured as design and then got someone in to load test and certify - but never with stairs or steps.

So were we doing things wrong in that we should have had them tested/certified back then, or have regulations changed to where they have to be now?

Just curious as I am not in the trade anymore.
