I thought that type of tool was for the back box part the female side of the RJ45, But I am no expert I had to get a crimp tool when I did mine a few months back

It's for terminating cables to sockets, you need a crimper to put plugs on.

I sort of surmised that as BT was mainly knockdown. So that's why I succumbed. And purchased a Tool.View attachment 321742

Hopefully it's the correct one...

That's the badger, punches down and trims the end off all in one easy process.

The hook is for pulling the wires back out of the punch down block if necessary.
And the flat tool is for releasing Krone terminal blocks from their mounting frame.

That's not a BT punchdown tool, that's for network punchdown terminals such as the OP is using.
The BT punchdown tool is similar but slightly different, not that I've ever had a problem using the same tool for both types of punchdown terminal.

Yes, that is the krone style. That is the one you need. No idea on quality but then you aren't doing hundreds of terminations.

The pass thru plug crimpers have a blade to cut the cores at the same time, and are probably slightly different in other ways just to be annoying.
I've looked at them but do t really fit enough plugs to warrant it.

I use the pass through plugs quite a lot, I like them as it's easier with my eyesight to check all the tiny cores have gone into the correct positions. I have standard Ck RJ11-45 ratchet crimp tool for them and just use a very sharp knife on the spare wire across the end of the connector!

You don't need the special pass through crimper. When you pass the wires through the plug, snip the ends off as close as you can. Then just slightly pull back the wires till they are flush with the plug and crimp.

I joined the cat5e cable inside my garage with a block connecter,
It connects to a 4 way switch, which runs a PC, with a 6 camera CCTV multiplexer viewing through it.
I've not noticed any difference in signal.
