How unrealistic is that!!
Bloke grinding on a landy, kid trips over the cable, split second later, its gone through his overals, trousers, and has cut half way through his leg into an artery

It was only a 5" grinder aswell :full

Being an A&E Consultant I refuse to watch that load of tripe, completely unrealistic, amazing success rate at resuscitation and obvious accident waiting to happen scenarios. My Wife watches it all the time, so I am aware of what goes on, but I continually have to explain what it's like in the real world. They seem to have a major incident - bomb etc - every week.

There's also the fact that we haven't called ourselves casualty departments for many years. In fact the new PC name for us is emergency department, but I guess I'm being a bit stubborn still saying A&E!

The only thing that is true to life is that the Consultants are good looking

I dunno, I had a nasty incident involving a 4.5" grinder, a wire wheel and my tee shirt, ended up with a big gouge across my stomach, good job theres plenty of protection over anything vital.

hehe mr dr, i agree all the nurses etc are fit as at our local hospital.

when i was in A&E with the girlfriend i was waiting for someone to be rushed in with a stick in thier leg or something stupid like that and blood all over the place....

no just loads of drunk people

Appearing at my local A&E....the programme repeats every week:

Friday night is P*ss Head night, starting at 11pm and running through to 4am
Saturday aftenoon is sport - football and rugby injuries.
Saturday PM - a reprise of Friday night, but with a new cast.
Sunday AM, features all the injuries from Saturday night, pedestrian and traffic.
Monday through to Friday - real sickness, punctuated by the appearance of "travellers" that won't register with a GP. Possibly because the GP surgery has had all the lead relieved from the roof.

Bill has it almost right except that 24 hours a day we are beseiged by chronically ill old people with insufficient care at home (whether own or nursing) and no medical care from GP's. In the daytime they are too busy meeting government targets on vaccinations and blood pressure checks, and nights/weekends they don't work any more - send them all to A&E!
