Caster's

I'm designing a mobile table for the garden, it's gonna be built with stuff ive got lying around the workshop. Frame will by 60x60x5 angle iron and the top will be 1100x600x40 granite slab. Once the frame is made my mates gonna supply me with carbon fibre sheet to cover the sides and make doors to make a heavy duty cupboard on wheels.

Here starts my problem, I want braked casters on each corner and I'm estimating that the whole hing will be around 200 kg ish. I can make it lighter but it means spending money on materials, don't want to do this as I have plenty of stuff lying around.

How do I work ut the load rating of the casters, ive seen some braked units that aren't very expensive and they are 125mm diamter and rated at 100kg each. If I get four does this then give me a total of 400 kg. Ideas and suggestions please plus a recommended supplier will be useful too

Yeah 4 would add up to 400kg as the load is spread

I got some quite chunky ones from lidl a couple of months back, seemed quite good for the money. (£10 for a set of 4, 2 braked 2unbraked) edit: only 60kg per caster though so probably a bit light weight for your use.

I've always taken it that the load rating is per caster (just looked on the box and it says that on mine) so I would think you should be good for ~400 kg total.

Take x 3 the load rating. Standard is load of each minus one.
Be aware that load ratings are for all wheels in contact and not all 200 kg rated are equal

I get casters from castersonline based at Manchester it's all they do apparently and cost is a lot lower than bought at suppliers off the shelf

Thanks Kent, great site with plenty of information, they've got some good stuff and ive earmarked some 250kg casters that are only marginally more expensive than some stuff on eBay. I've had some fail on me in the past so this little project is gonna get over engineered

I got 4 for a pound today at lidl------------- and some scrap mesh to go with it
