Consider this, machine the top to half the diameter then make a new piece to match the old top that is no longer there and then screw on.

Similar in principle to a big end on a conrod

Or if there isn't enough meat to tap a thread you could take the lot off below the hole and make a new one completely effectively the shape of a pilot bearing but with a plate on the side to bolt through the side of the main casting.

I've used mine for 40 years and its still like new after I rebuilt it just set it away and go do other stuff and the blades only cost me a quid each

I've used bandsaws all rite and bought a rather large one for 120 quid that cuts rsj /s done it up and sold it for 3oo quid could have bought another one a good runner with a knackered switch cheap but I couldn't be bothered no need for one donkey saw and a stihlsaw does everything I want thank u

like most decent British firms out of business and long gone there is a firm that make modern larger automatic ones I wired one up for rgb stainless steel stock holders for cutting up to 10 inch round solid stainless steel bar. a band saws no good for it

Here's ours - 20K's worth of far eastern junk. Does the job and hasn't missed a beat, but it's certainly not British engineering.

It will be a bandsaw or coldsaw . Looking at a single phase 350mm cold saw... less cutting capacity than the bandsaw but probably more accurate cutting wise. Looking at this baighly industrial model.

Hmm, if that broken bit fits in there nicely, I'd be tempted to try to drill, tap and bolt it together. It looks like there is enough cast to hold two pins per break.

With it held nice and tight, you can vee out the crack a bit and weld it too. You're lucky the majority of the hole is intact - you don't want to pull it out of round with lots of grinding out and welding.
