cast iron welding

i have some cast iron welding tool be fisnished of and cant seem to get the weld to flow well i have done cast welding before with an old oxford ac welder and all worked well. now im trying to use a silverline 200amp dc welder and im using it electrode postitive dont have a hold lot of experiance stick welding and want to know do i need ac or dc or doesnt it matter and electode positve or neg

what rods are you using and what amps ? I find cast is always puddingy ( for want of a better word ) and it never seems to flow as you say , you may find a bit of pre-heat will help !

around 90-110 amps 3.2 rods have had the rods on top of the heater in the work shop to dry them out i no not idea but thats all we have will try heating the cast up with the burners before i give it a go tomorow

Take a look at the welds in my photo album , was a nice bit of cast on a pump shattered in pieces managed to get it all back together !
