I’ve tried to say this to mates kids but I just get a blank look.Never a truer word said.
Sadly (but with the occasional exception) the youngsters I see on a daily basis are not well travelled, nor can see they see beyond the town in which they were born; they just have no aspiration to do so. I keep suggesting that those that want to get into a trade should do so, gain experience and then travel the world - or head to Australia where 'tradies' prosper as the nation still evolves and grows.
The inspector in my old machine shop told me to move on, go out and see the world, back when I was but 17.
He told me that if I didn’t, I’d soon be part of the furniture, stuck in rut of a job, and soon I’d be 27, then 37, then 67, and I’d look back and wonder what the hell had I done with my life. I never forgot that conversation.
I think it suits some peopleNever a truer word said.

The big question for me is why are you looking to move? Unhappy, bored, mid life crisis, something you’ve always fancied? Sometimes the grass looks greener because the fertiliser is spread more abundantly.

But after 5 weeks you'll be able to earn Janes change per hour!I have finished with my office based engineering job of 25 years.
Armed with my JSA letter, whistling 'Eddie and the Hot Rods' main hit record, I enrolled on a 5 week welding course today.
There were English and maths tests involved. I had to:
Identify the correct denomination of a coin. (a 20p)
Select the correct name, out of four, of a geometric shape. (rectangle)
Fill in the missing alphabetical sequence: A, B, _ , _ , _ , F
Calculate Jane's change from a fiver if she buys a sandwich for £1.50.
What!? Now you tell me ..But after 5 weeks you'll be able to earn Janes change per hour!
After my surgery it having SWMBO stick a needle in me daily for 2 weeks (I'd pass out if I had to do it myself), she enjoyed it, me not so.The surgery has reminded me of the fragility of life, bit philosophical I admit but needing the wife to help me get dressed certainly focuses the mind
