Carbon dipping

Does anyone know much about carbon dipping?

Fancy doing some carbon parts on my car but wondering if there is a kit out there to do it. I have came over the transfer film off ebay but wondering what Activator is used & is it easy to get hold of?!

Phil on cable (Discovery Turbo) there is a program called "wheeler dealers" with Edd china and Mike Brewer they have featured a mini done with the "carbon fibre" look vinyl wrap and a VW panel van with a vinyl bubble look wrap. No signs of any over coating or clear coating being done!

Yes mate I have seen this program but carbon fibre dipping is different to vinyl wrapping its small interior or engine bay parts that get this done then clearcoat over lots vids on YouTube about it

I have seen pictures of dipped stuff, not carbon but printed patterns. It was printed out and floated on a water bath, an item was stuffed in it and you ended up with printing on said item. It looked very much a specialist thing, probably propriety water;-) a special inkjet printer, special film the printer printed on and so on, but if you have seen how it's done.. Looked just like a big waterslide trasfer.
I saw it on a powder coating forum, I think it's called water transfer printing

i do remember occ (orange county choppers) or the son doing this same process with a bike build looks impressive stuff wouldnt mind trying it my self on a few items when i get the time lol

Maybe "Hydrographics" is the sort of thing you are after.

3M carbon wrap would do it and probably not cost as much.

I have seen quite a few examples of a carbon dipped paint. Looks realistic but depending what you want the price might turn you off.

Come across a competitor a few months ago supposedly cheaper http://www.hydro-graffix.co.uk/index.html Some details of pricing on there but seems size dependant. Smallest item £25 Engine cover £75 etc

they look crap and chavvy as the carbon effect doesnt keep the same pattern through out due to the curves of what your covering.

Doesnt anyone make the bits in REAL C/F?
