motorpoint, Im looking at changing the Mrs impreza, went to a couple of subaru dealers in Essex, quite frankly they can stick it, no interest in a deal, or even trying infarct impression was that I interrupted there tea break...they deserve to go bust
motorpoint have 8 new imprezas straight non turbo(good for lots of miles like the wagon its replacing) new, for £10,495 phoned em theres about a 500 on top for OTR and thatcham alarm, but its still under 4k on what the cretins offered me local....
Check 'em out but they are well known for 'calibrating speedos' and general dodgy goings on. Look out for long gaps in service history and unsually low between MOT milegages. The muppets on the forecourts don't have a clue so as far as they are concerned its straight motor.
I didn't think you could change the mileage on a modern car but it seems you can. The lastest generation of cars you can't as the ECU mileage has to match the instrument mileage. Before just the instrument recorded the mileage and offered a calibration due to different wheel sizes.
Theyre probably ex fleet or leasehire cars.
I used to work for a company who used to manage a huge lease hire scheme and they'd have the cars from new, put 12-15k on them with free servicing and tyres etc all in, then bring them back in a guaranteed condition, and if they didnt hit the mileage, bring them back after they got past 18months old. We checked them back in, made sure they were in the agreed condition and if they were due a service or needed tyres they went off to the dealers before we de-fleeted them. If they had dents or panel paint problems they went off to the paint/bodyshop before defleeting and the client paid the excess.
They went out into the used car dealership network as agreed condition second hand cars with guarenteed values and the likes of car supermarkets etc had bulk buy arrangements of these defleeted cars.
For condition, they were serviced and well maintained, and in reasonable condition with the right fluids etc. We had no way of knowing how the people drove them, if they ragged them from cold etc but theres no way you can really. None of our cars were ever clocked or tampered with for mileage fraud since our clients got a new car on either mileage or time purposes.
Occasionally we defleeted stuff from other parts of the company, including some hire companies. Sometimes their condition was a little less cared for (like you'd expect) but Ive never been given cause to consider one had been clocked.
If I was going to buy a secondhand car, id be quite happy to discover that it came from that company...
The cars are brand new delivery millage only, without even a REG at the mo, so fixing millage is not gonna be an issue, they carry on purchase the full 36 month Subaru waranty.....
Firm said there bought from a dealer in Cyprus, RT hand drive, only difference between UK spec and Cyprian spec, is the Thatchem, which they fit for £150.....
Its bemused me why main dealers cant or are not willing, to attempt to compete with these guys......

They might be classed as "grey" imports which may have an effect on insurance and obtaining correct parts for that model, worth checking before parting with your hard-earned...
Parallel, Euro-Import.
Perfectly OK to insure, great company I use try Chris Knott Insurance, very very very good service and prices are good, are for me on the S and the van.
Also try Bob Gerard for imports.
Just check the service intervals and warranty period as they can differ.
Cheeked em out, once DVLA register it is then its a UK car, fully register with Subaru UK, with a UK warranty 3yrs......theres no difference on spec...the thatchems are fitted by the dealers on PDI anyhow there needed for UK insurance..
very impressed with the service from the company so far, got it for £10,901 all in, £4100 cheaper than the Subaru dealer,
they reckon 7-10 days, tho apparently The DVLAs on a go slow on new regs at the mo, once its PDI, they arrange a day to inspect the car if I'm not happy, I walk away, as long as its OK then I give em a bankers draft or BACs and the deal is done.....
You even get 7 days fully comp insurance so you don't have the limbo changeover from one car to anouther....
