car roll over - anyone done one?

Alright folks!!

has anyone made a car roll over jig thingy - not one of the spit roasting ones one that bolts to the hubs and tips the car 90deg?

if so can you point me to the thread if there is one as ive searched and cant find owt

i'm seriously considering makeing one and im after the radius - im thinking of 600mm????

gonna make the rollers out of some scaff bar just need to get somone to bend it for me as i aint got a machine or the strength to do it

I'm sure someone on here was selling one,and I did mentioned that one could be made. I can't find the thread,but I did copy the pictures of how the hub area is made

been quoted £80 to bend the 4 bars bit expensive but i'm struggling to find anyone who can do them!

If you no any pipe fitter/welders (heat & vent) I'm sure they will bend the pipe for the cost of a few beers.

I was looking about for some pipe bending equipment and came across these

dont know if the die's are any good, but will cost you the same as paying someone else for doing the job. Hardly seems right then does it?

The dies on those benders are rubbish, in terms of deforming the tube. however, for the job being discussed they'd probably be ok, just don't expect to make anything like a roll cage using them.

i get bored easly and if i didnt do it quick i'd never get it done

got the both bars welded together today - sorry no pics it's still at work (do it in my dinner time) basically i welded 3 1" box sections at 220mm between them

slipped up as the gusset on the front wheel clamp fouls the wheel so i got to burn a bit out then it will be ok

apart from that seems ok - fits easly just got to try it out

How is the car tilted over once these are bolted in place ?

I was wondering the same thing, I see the other guy has used an engine hoist to do his but I'd imagine getting it back upright is difficult? it doesn't look like you have much control over the tilting either. Are you able to take a short video clip of the rolling action and stick it on youtube?

i tried to use the forktruck in the pic to tilt it over but it doesnt have enough power so this is as far as ive got

cant really put a video up as the camera only does 15 secs recording but i'll try

here's a close pic of the hub adapter, that bolts up 1st then the jig bolts to that with the 4 M16 nuts

I'm sure these things do work, but I'd be worried with all the weight supported off two wheel hub/bearing assemblies plus loading the rest of the suspension the wrong way.

When I tipped my beemer I used a 4M cargo sling chain hoist and a nice 1 ton gantry beam. Stuck old tyres and blankets under the bottom side to spread the weight out around the whole shell and it seemed fine.

i think i might do that on the back - put an old tyre between the frame and the body so it dampens the body as it drops towards the frame

ive still got it on the forktruck - still got a bit more to go before its there

i'm not actually doing any work on it tho - just testing it out
