You won't believe this: My other Pug 205 was stolen on the 31st/1st, and I reported the crime last night, to a nice police lady in Portsmouth, on the 101 line. She gasped when I told her the reg. number, ****PFC , because her other half is a massive Portsmouth football fan and apparently he would have given me a few hundred quid for it!

I had S40 JSL on my 2001 BMW 540 (the JSL are my initials). With a not-entirely-legal font it looked a lot like "540 JSL"
But it meant nothing transferred to a different car so when I sold the motor for £2900 I left the plate on it. Seems like the plate is no longer in use so I guess the subsequent owner didn't see much value in the number either!

Car might be stolen but you still own it and have the owners docs...
- so why not apply to put it on the transfer "on hold" list ? as you already got a potential buyer, must be worth a try? -

My Mini van came with the reg EVA 64C - it no longer exists, wish I'd had the foresight to put it on retention.

I once followed a Mini, one of the newer big ugly ones, with the number plate ‘3’.
Nothing else, just 3 on the plate.
Doesn’t exist, according to the govt MOT checker website.
