Have an 2005 year Outback and having issues with noise and lurching car when on full lock at low speeds.
I get it when reversing out of my parking space and then again going forward until I straighten up.
It feels like the whole car lurches and you hear a crack then again after a bit more etc. Feels like a wheel about to fall off.
Same happens when I turn at the workshop so it only seems to happen at low speeds, then again that is probably the only time I am full lock.
It doesn't seem to matter which way I am reversing/going forward but it definitely seems to be the nearside wheel. I had the other half go back/fwd loads of times today and it did happen but I couldn't see what it was. It seemed much quieter outside the car than it does inside and the lurching is more pronounced when inside.
Jacked the car up and can't feel any play in anything except slight, and I mean slight knock from steering rack when sharply moving the steering wheel side to side fast..
Any thoughts on what it could be?
BTW new drive shafts on both sides, drop links are fairly new as well.
