One you don't have to apply yourselfwhat is the best car polish without paying the earth
and was going to try Bilt Hamber double speed wax.
Depends on your definition of 'polish'. Do you want to perform paint correction, or just something to make the water bead and run off? Folk confuse 'polish', which is technically for removing surface contaminants and defects like 'swirls' [often inflicted by poor washing technique], with a wax or sealant.
For a quick job, which'll last for a few months, I use AutoSmart Topaz - quick on and easy off. In fact I was giving the car a going over today with it. Or for a long-lasting sealant after paint correction try Collinite 476.
Here's an old pic of mine wearing Topaz to give you an idea.....
EDIT: Not bad for [then] 15 years old and 120-odd thousand miles on her.
I still like farecla polishes, G3 and G10 have always worked well for me.
One of my work colleagues is a detailer too so no more polishing for me.
Tried polymer or ceramic coatings? Spray on with a foam Lance, leave for a minute, rinse off and enjoy.
Lasts months and gives amazing bead. Dirt doesn't cling anywhere near as well as without and cuts down on how often you need to wax.
Tell me more please, I live at the end of a dusty track. Car just acts like a magnet for dust when parked up at home
Once per year or so:
- Turtle Wax Shampoo
- Bilt Hamber Clay
- Meguires - still using the 205 I bought ages ago
- Collonite 476
Weekly just Turtle Wax shampoo
Monthly or so
Shampoo
any easy to apply liquid wax, currently Halford's own brand after the last of the Turtle Wax ran out
I will have to investigate these new fangled polymer or ceramic coatings. You ill have me snow foaming next!
@grim_d do you have a recommendation for a specific brand? Last time I looked to replace my stocks there were dozens of new products from suppliers I'd never heard of.
This is starting to sound like a subset of Detailing World.
