That and it does seem to somewhat obstruct the headlight . . .I know someone who mounted 2 pairs of air cylinders on the front of his rescue ambulance to power the air tools, local plod advised him to remove them as it was a bit dangerous.
There just isn't the call for conversions any more, so less and less LPG powered cars on the road as old ones get scrapped. The knock on effect is that forecourts aren't selling enough to justify keeping the facility going.Ok sods law, i was about to look at buying a NIssan Patrol 4.2 petrol / LPG for dragging te boat. Now i see that the pain in the **** power at be are phasing out LPG at the pumps.
Is there a legal...legit way to refule these LPG cars ?

As for filling from cylinders, just don't. You need a high pressure pump, the cylinder has to be inverted to pump out the liquid which drags all the oil (heavy ends) and other crap with it, and it's not legal due to the road fuel duty not having been paid. And you need a lot, depending on your usage. LPG has a lower calorific value than petrol so you use more, but as an easy calculation work on 2 litres per KG of Propane, so a 47 kilo cylinder will give you 94 litres, or 20 ish gallons. On that patrol, expect no more than 15 MPG, which is 300 miles a cylinder. Or less if towing a boat. You'll need a few cylinders knocking around, and then getting them refilled is another matter.
If you can find someone local-ish who does the fitting and servicing they will probably have the gas on pump, but don't expect the major forecourts to keep it much longer. If you do strike lucky then fair enough.
Or buy a tank, skid and pump for home. But you'll soon see how expensive that gets.

Banned - phased out - same result. It's not being band. Being phased out
Shell closed from 2020

MFG has told the CMA it will close down its pumps by 2024 - see point 6. Google that and there are a couple of news articles on it, which is what I assume this thread is about

So if the government are doing away with LPG and oil for domestic heating WTF is everyone going to heat their house with in the nearish future?I did see LPG House boilers are being done away with but couldn't see anything relating to government reducing LPG at pumps if someone can point me in the right direction?

The idiot's in power are also banning gas boilers from 2030 something in new builds so what are we going to do???
I've got a log burner and live in a forest so I'll be ok until it looks like Easter Island round here!
I used it because it was cheaper. Yes it's cleaner, but not massively so. If they (the gment) weren't going to promote it 10 yrs ago thye're not likely to now - theyd rather it gets flared off at the refineries...The Governments attitude to LPG in this country has always annoyed me.
It could have been used as a cleaner alternative to petrol, a sort of halfway house but they refused to encourage its use, probably because of the lower duty on it Now Dacia are pushing for its use by selling a good factory made bi-fuel range of vehicles, I believe the first manufacturer to do so they are allowing it to be removed from forecourts even though it still has a future.
Lets face it, removing an LPG tank isn't going to free up that much space for an EV so pretty pointless really when that LPG if encouraged could clean up emissions from a huge amount of petrol vehicles.
The big garage chains are phasing it out. I don't think anybody has told them they must do it though..
£1/litre from forecourts around here (diesel is £1.48)
Only a couple of fourcourts left doing it now and the price has gone up 5p each time another sited closed.
There are quite a few backyard places doing lpg at 70-75p/l so the bulk cost must be somewhere below that but I was paying 52p/l in 2016 when I first started using it seriously
