Car insurance prices going down?

Just got my renewal for Kim's XK8 from Saga.

"Time to renew your Saga Standard car insurance as your policy expires soon - renew before 18 September 2024 to stay covered. Thanks for choosing Saga to insure your JAGUAR XK8, registration number xxxxx this year. Your policy is due to renew on 18 September 2024, and we've enclosed your new Schedule.

Your renewal price for the year is £116.48. Last year your policy cost £162.94."

Well it says right here it’s for the year I’d argue that. I’d send a letter say that I will accept the new offer of £116.48 just to get them to confirm it.

I've just had the same scenario with the Land Rover series 2, renewal came through at £170 down from £380 last year. I asked when I phoned, and she said it the same company, but it's on their classic side instead of the 4x4 one. Trinity lane through Adrian Flux.

Cant say the same for my farm, house, holiday lets policy! I said to the girl on the phone I only want to insure it, rather than buy it all again.

Check it's not an actual classic policy or you'll loose your no claims bonus!
If they've done that that's very very tricky!

I renewed SWMBOs Jimny last week. Insurer gave renewal price as £338. Up from £207 previous year.

Best I could get from comparison sites, but with higher excess, was £261.

I had the same this year with my car insurance on my vw passat estate. I was pleasantly shocked at the reduction, rather than the usual increase i`ve come to expect. So this year I renewed with them rather than shop around.

Well done guys bit different here. Recently changed to a hybrid car. Insurance premium jumped over £50/month till renewal date. What's the point might as well burn diesel overall costs wouldn't be any more.
At renewal I'll certainly be shopping around.
Any pointers to specialist and cheaper battery car insurers.

I'm surprised, mines been in the bodyshop for a month for a broken wing mirror and a dent on the front wing. I'd have quoted about 8 hours wirk if it was a customer bringing it to me but the parts are £2500.

Hire car cost so far is £5300

So a tiny bit of damage has turned into a £10k repair

And thats exactly why premiums are so high…..plus all the chair polishers discussing the repair rather than just making it happen quickly!

Martin Lewis the money saving expert did say on his radio show a few weeks back that prices are dropping by 10%. Nothing todo with the investigation into prices.

Have you read their Trustpilot reviews? I would sell up if they were the last insurance company in the world. Hateful shower, fully of new and interesting ways to take money from you under false pretences.
