the rating of 90amp doesn't matter if there is no demand for it, with a near fully charged battery and all the electrical equipment off the current flowing should be minimal
when the fuse went last night were the split charge and winch still disconnected?
As I said, the current will only hit max if the battery is charging. But after a cold start with some other electrical systems running the battery could easily pull the max current from the alternator.
