Car feels odd, handbrake?

Not much to add to the suggestions already in the thread, other than - you haven't mentioned what tyres are fitted?
Those nankang ditchfinders and linglong widowmakers didn't exactly get their name for nothing.

Sounds more like a combination of crap tyres and a diesel spill to me.
