So I haven’t had anything to do with car audio since I had spots, so I’m a bit out of touch.

The tractor needs a new radio, the head unit world doesn’t seem to have changed much, although I want something to connect to my phone and with DAB so I can listen to popmaster on greatest hits radio.

But the confusing thing is DAB Ariel’s, what do I need to get a good signal the stick on glass type or roof mount type?

I believe so but just what I’ve heard, I guess if there’s no popmaster on R2 Monday then yes.

That’s not what I was hopeing for, as tractors and things sticking out the roof are a recipe for disaster when low trees get involved.

As you all probably know DAB with bad signal is a complete right off not just a bit crackly like FM.

You can get a splitter to use the existing ariel, apparently just as good as the screen sticky jobs, lots of options come up in Amazon. From my research for my defender these are the way togo!

If its pants look at shark roof antenna or shark fin antenna…very low profile

Just gone down this road in preparation for Ken leaving. I got the screen mount DAB antenna, important bit is to follow the fitting instructions for the positioning and a good earth. I would have gone for roof mounted didn’t want to be drilling holes in the roof.
The screen mount aerial I bought is powered and you need to ensure the DAB head unit settings are set to this too, by default they usually are. I fitted a Kenwood 5020 DAB, which is double din but only half depth so easy to fit. Apple Play (wired) has been great along with the Bluetooth streaming. Sound quality was surprisingly improved even though it’s still using the same speakers on both FM and DAB.
