Hello all, are there any alternator experts on here?.
I'm well versed in the motorcycle application with a magnetic flywheel ( rotor) and fixed 3 phase stator in most applications, the 3 phases are then fed to a regulator, rectifier that does what it says on the tin.
From what I can see the car alternators have the "stator" coils on the outside fixed to the casings, the Stator is internal (driven by the pulley) and the voltage across the slip rings adjusts the output. The Diodes for rectification are inside the alternator.
Has anyone ever fed the Slip Ring constant battery voltage and fed the 3 phases to an external regulator?.
On the flip side has anyone converted an alternator to external regulation via the slip ring voltage to the Rotor?.
