I haven't read it but it is my understanding that nothing is enshrined in law, apart from being in proper control. I have often driven in bare feet in my youth and never felt the slightest bit out of proper control.

Looking forward to roadside shoe checks as plod doesn't have enough on his plate already.
If I fail the shoe check and they confiscate my shoes can I drive home barefoot or do I have to walk .

We would not recommend driving barefoot because you don't have the same braking force with bare feet as you do with shoes on
