Cant get Red Diesel at pumps?

I got my China Diesel heater today.

Went to get 5L of Red Diesel. I went to several filling stations in Co Tyrone NI here and the ones that did Red at pump no longer have it. One had the nozzle but no fuel when I went to pump. Staff were clueless when I asked what was up with that.

Is Red Derv now totally outlawed at pumps or what? I am familiar that they are forcing building sites to use it now (which is a disgrace IMO) but this was a surprise that I'm putting forking white Diesel into my heater!!

you need to befriend a farmer.... its rare to find it at the pump and when you do it is expensive.

Over here red diesel is the same price as Kerosene £1.30 per litre when buying small volumes.
Kerosine is cleaner burning and will work just fine in your heater, you should be able to get some pumped into a container from a local heating oil supplier if you can’t find red diesel.

I can get Kerosene at pumps OK so that may be an option.

I there are a couple of places which may pump red diesel but if going to them I'll bring a 25L drum so it'll do me a while.

Don't know what the situation is in NI but over here Red was basically outlawed last year (government were aiming for a 3/4 reduction in usage)

Don't know what the law on supplying it is now but I read something saying fuel suppliers could be held to account for irresponsible supply or something like that.
I know our local supplier sent out a letter saying they were only going to deliver a minimum of 200l to farms or something like that. They used to deliver anywhere and sell it in plastic drums at the depot.

I'd guess if they have been told they have some sort of responsibility it's be a lot easier for them to just sell you the higher price stuff instead...

My local Jet garage has Red at £1.29/litre….can’t get kero anywhere here….not even Paraffin..

Our local garage sells it, but it's a bit of a run from northern Ireland to Norfolk to collect.

Where abouts in Tyrone? Fairly sure the 2 places in Aughnacloy both have it. Failing that, about 2 mile over the border and you'll get a few places with green handy enough

When father first had his Eberspacher D4 installed in his motorhome back in 2005 he fitted a separate fuel tank and ran it on red for a year or 2 it sooted up a few times. When he had it serviced a couple time under warranty by the eberspacher agent they said the UK red diesel was the dirtiest in Europe. Father then somehow though of using home heating oil, he’s used in the heater for years now and never had any problems with it, plus its a lot cheaper to run. Try it its easier to find.

Pop across to monaghan plenty green diesel available, (green being irelands agri diesel) im sure uk gov is making it impossible to get unless your actually farming.
Kero will run cleaner in that heater too
Would be my first choice

It's widely considered that Kero burns hotter and cleaner, so less shooting and issues than with diesel (Red or White).
I have a CH Tank of the stuff, so just pump what I need for the van heater.

Why not just use Kero?

The lawful use of red diesel has changed, still ok for ag,forestry and horticulture. There are other legal uses, I think power generation is one of them.

Yes Kero sounds like the way to go. Looking up the kw/L energy of both fuels they appear almost the same at 10.2 KW depending where you look.

father has run veg oil 50/50 mix in the iveco but not the stove think the pumps might find it a bit thick
