Only silver soldering I have done has been with propane.
It not that strong so you need a lot of joint area for it to work well.
Mind you I've a pin I need to hold in a caliper I painted already and tig might be the best way to not make a complete mess.
I've used TIG for silver soldering but it's not ideal. Turn the TIG down so low that it doesn't make a weld puddle and be patient. The part will heat soak and as it starts to glow you move the arc about to stop it melting locally.
