That's the biggest area would fit in a clearing in the trees.

thats why you chop them down before you apply for planning permission

Have you checked when the last time there was eight consecutive days above 10 degrees C in Aberdeenshire?

Just checked for you and it was sometime in the mid Jurassic period when what is now Aberdeenshire was somewhat nearer the equator, you may have a long wait!

Looks like the average ground level around the structure is higher than the top of the slab. Would it not be better with a bit more elevation to keep out the damp?

Nah, the majority level is level with the slab. 2 sides are on a diagonal slope.
The slab has visqueen under because of radon gas regs up here, visqueen will run
up outside of 300 high edge wall. Another ten inches of screed to go in yet.
Some landscaping to do on nearside, all WIP.
