Thanks for the info Kent, Always nice to learn a little history, I had no idea where the saying came from but I heard granddad say it quite often when i was a kid, He died in the late 60's aged 89

Great photos of your grandad Gordon, you are obviously very proud and rightly so. WW1 was horrific, every one of the men was a hero.

Hat's off to the lot of them, ALL of which have now sadly passed away.

Don't know about snipers, but it sounds like the motto of the Weapons Engineering branch in the Navy. 8 hours sleep a day and anything you get at night's a bonus...
