bad in what respectThis might seem stupid but if your wearing full fire retardant clothes is it still bad to sit down whilst welding

What have full fire retardant clothes got to do with it anyway?
That he took from principles of marksmanship Hesketh Pritchard WW1 and still used in sniper training worldwideMy old granddad's mantra was, (and he was a good grafter) "Never stand if you can sit and never sit if you can lie down"
In one job that I did, a guy said to me that it didn't look as if I was bothered about a job, I replied "like how"?
He said every time he looked I was leaning on something.
What he didn't understand was I was used to welding out of position, And believe me if you can make your life easier by leaning your head/shoulder/hip/elbow/knee or what ever on something solid, do it.
Sometimes a vertical up run can be say an hour ,get comfortable!
Do you always have to be argumentative?Obviously your talking with some sort of fixture moving the work downwards as you weld because you will have to stand before long running uphill for an hour
+1 get a leather apron, comfort is necessary if you're going to produce consistent welds, just mind where the spatter's going.if I am working on lots for small components I work sat down, I set everything up so I can reach it easily and always wear a leather apron and check that it is covering the nether regions properly.
