So riding the bike in public leaves the owner with the same risk, someone can just take ownership? Nope, I didn't think soA friend put a motor cycle on Ebay but made the mistake of not hiding the reg no. in the photo .It hasn't sold so far. Yesterday he received a letter from DVLA to say that as he was the "previous owner" he was due a refund of the Road tax. He now has to prove that he still has the bike and he is legit and has been told that it could take up to 10 weeks to sort it out and in the meantime he cannot sell it or use it . I realise that most folk will be careful not to divulge the reg no. on the net but it seems all too simple to change ownership without any checks.
