dunno but ive brazed plenty of it and gas welded loads of mild steel and body pannels
yes , if you run a trimix of gas , dont mind distortion , and a lot of bother ,,, you can braze it , but it will distort , you can mig it with pure argon , far easier and cheaper to tig it , you can buy a cheap tig set for the price of the gas set up ,, the results wont be pleasing with gas depending on your final intended use. it will stick weld too of course.

Off the top of my head I'd suggest Carbide Precipitation could be an issue, In grades like 304, excessive heat (500–800°C) can cause chromium carbide formation at grain boundaries, leading to intergranular corrosion unless stabilized or low-carbon grades like 304L are used.

The flux required is a 'backup' flux, which you painrt on the back of the weld - it is more or less equivalent to back purging with inert gas. Here is a current UK supplier (USA manufacture)

I've been doing pipe-to-flange welds in 304L with OA for quite a few years, leak testing them and getting a reasonable pass rate (say 80%) without the flux...then I stumbled on it last week and bought some right away! It really does make quite a difference. But don't get any whatsoever on the front of the weld - it will act as a barrier and ruin the job.
