Please could someone tell me if there is anything wrong with my welds.and wat to do to correct it next time.i had a pm saying they were'nt very good which has kind of upset me because ive worked really hard to get the project this far
Welds look good to me. If I was to be picky I would say the weld in the second pic looks like it could be smoother, maybe more power could have helped (if you welder is up to it)as it looks like thickish metal. But like I say I'm nit picking, because I don't think it 's going to fall apart any time soon. Its not an oil rig or nuclear power plant you are welding and the welds are far better than just good enough. I think you are making a very nice job of it.
Look good to me too, a little more power in places may help but as said before that's really nit-picking.
Are you using straight co2 gas? I only ask because of the splatter and some anti-splatter spray will help to stop it sticking. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the welds. Just helps with the cleaning up effort.
Those welds look fine, like everyone said already a bit of spatter but that's because you're using pure Co2!
Very childish to pm someone about the quality of his welds... if you don't have the nerve to say it in public then shut up please!
I hope the pm'er realises he has upset you with this stupid action!
Did you get the PM after posting your welds on another forum? I've not seen the photos on here before and don't believe anyone on here would be so small minded.
Other forums can be funny. The big thing they complain about to me is non-continuous welding, and one of your photos shows that. It's ideal to go all the way around a joint in one go - avoids cold joins between welds and I would imagine that was the criticism as I can't see anything else.
But those that complain all weld 3mm or thicker all day. For car body thickness we would distort metal if we weld all the way around in one go, and anyway if we tried to do that we would blow holes after a short weld. I would support your approach and it looks like you have a feel for what you are doing.
Yes totally............. here is the funny thing. They criticise riches welds with sarcasm, when they are fine for the job and you could hang the weight of the vehicle off them..........................Then they ask for advice on the forum.(check the user stats) Just the way to get help i think
I'm sure malc will deal with the comment maker, by means of advice of inserting a kangaroo to a strategic place.
Take no notice rich.... there is one like that around every corner, sadly.
