Can someone post some photos of there ground tungstens

As I'm getting moaned at that my tungstens are grounded to too finer a point,now as we are using 2.4 tungstens using the rule 2.5x the dia of the tungsten that comes out at 6mm length of grind

I don't grind then to a serious point,just a rounded blunt tip

Where am I going wrong?

There is no 'right' angle (or length of taper), only hard and fast rule is that any grinding marks run lengthwise. The tip geometry has an effect on arc shape (and thus puddle shape), arc stability and tip life. Consistancy may be important for mechanised welding (as the link deals with) but with manual welding personal preference plays a larger role

It is a sacrificial tip on a TIG torch which is used to strike the arc.

I am no expert but:

For AC aluminium, that would be fine - they tend to find their own shape and get a wee ball on the end.

For DC, I sharpen mine like a pencil lead. My tutor goes even further and makes it even sharper for lightweight steel; for fatter stuff I guess you'd get away with a wider angle, but a rounded blunt tip isn't really the go. In my experience, the arc jumps around too much.
