give em a bell and explain. get it in writing not just say soWhat happens about the traces of red diesel if the tank is dipped by the Customs man? They reckon that traces remain after many fill ups and they can detect it. I've been dipped four times in my Disco - always run on white as it's my private vehicle despite having a big tank of red on the farm! They can (and do) confiscate vehicles with traces of red.
You dont want to change it to PLG but to HISTORIC
Classics are cheap for teenagers, sub £1k compared to £2k-£3k on modern cars
How can he reclass it as historic tax class it is a defender they started in 1985 tax free historic ceased in '72
It will have to be PLG or stay as agri.
ref the red diesel get it in writing if you can.
search on here you will find loads of advice ref landies

I mis-read the tax exempt bit
"can i put a tax exempt landrover back on the road"
Hi i dont want to sound funny but a landrover 90 wont be tax exempt.
It would have to be a series 2 registered before 1972.
It is tax exempt as he has it currently registered as an agricultural vehicle which allows it to be driven no further than 1.6km from the farm on public roads.
Any vehicle built before 1 Jan 1973 qualifies as tax exempt so early 3 series will also be tax exempt
absolutely correct but can you confirm the 1.6 km rule
i have heard various rules-5 miles per week 5 mile radius of the farm you can drive between your land etc but do you have a link or something to a official website to confirm that distance
so is there is no way to get it insured cheaper then
thanks
