Can I have these bottles refilled??

So Iv been looking around for while now for some pub gas bottles and finally found these 2 bottles.


My question is can I have then refilled as there is writing stating it's prohibited on the side.

Here's the signs so you can see.

They belong to a cellar company by the looks of it. And they're probably co2/nitrogen mix originally by the looks of itd.

no u cant u can only get them filled by the owners and allso there not filled with just c 02 theres allso nitrogen in them look on the bottle

That's what the number / number labels are on the handle. The ratio of co2 to N2

They may swap them for you 8 they are bought on a deposit system. Looks to be an Ipswich dialling code.

Don't skip them ,, they make great" polecats "......weld on some handels and you can use them to ram in fence posts ...jeff...

Well reading the label not only are you not allow to fill them but you cant dispose of them. Looks like you are stuck with them for the rest of your life
If yo need/want a pub type cylinder of CO2 find a Cellar supplies place that should do you a cylinder for £25 + £20 for gas then there after swap out for £20 (refill) Shop around. You might even find a company that uses that suplier as THERE supplier of cylinders and at some point you could off load them.

The bottles come from an old pub that's been empty for the last 2 years so they have probably been forgotten about by now.

I will do some research and see what I can do

see if you can find a pub localy that uses that supplier for gas and ask them to exchange them for you

And remember now you are stuck with them when you take them to bed with you warm them up first... one on each side and for gawd sake USE a regulator. Where do you think those little disposable bottles come from..

Well I sent an email over the weekend and had a reply Monday afternoon.

They have said they do sell welding gas and to give them a call and discuss prices etc

I'm going to call tomorrow and see what the score is bit it's looking promising.

We go to the supplier and pay the deposit on the bottle. It's not worth messing with dodgy source bottles. I've even refused them when people offer them to me free with gas left in because CO2 is so cheap that it's not worth the hassle of being left with the empties afterwards (unless you've got a use for the steel or can be bothered cutting it up till it's not recogniseable to weigh in).

I paid £20 deposit on my bottle plus £20 a time when it needs swapping.

Yes, I go to place localy that supplies beer and gas to the bars and Tavernas around here it was 40 Euros for the bottle but only 6.50 for a refill ,cheap enought I think ...

When I was speaking some time back to a cellar gas supplier he said there main concern was that you take the bottle of gas and never come back so they lose a bottle from there stock. Best way when asked "is it for welding" be honest and say yes and add that you hope to be returning on a regular basis to refill.As pointed out CO2 this way is so cheep you won't be panicking if you loose a bit of gas due to a leak or purging the pipe prior to starting welding. It's also cheep enough to have a spare bottle ready for when your in use bottle runs out. Imagine doing that with the price of most of the hobby bottles and there £££'s deposit ect

i use loads of CO2 in the workshop

us the bottels as cheep fire extigushers, you know those welding jobs where it's garanteed to catch fire several times so rather than useing the expensive fire exguishers i use pub gas fo rthe planned fires

so in stead of getting burned and set the place on fire u just get asphyxiated instead

some days i feel asphyxiation would be welcome, to be fair it would need to be a massive bottel my workshop is quite a drafty place
