Can i fix this with a soldering iron

My nissan fuse board had a similar issue...the fuse holders had degraded with age and there was very little contact area with the fuse....I ended up swapping out a couple of the fuse holders and that fixed it .

I guess what I'm saying is find and fix the underlying cause.

I suspect the issue is the edge connector which you'll need to scrape to clean up

Scraping gently with the back of a scalpel blade.

Or an ink eraser, or fibreglass brush.

That would be a relatively simple board to make a replacement for with one of the online services, but contact cleaner is probably the way to go.

Thanks for all the replies here.

The reasons as to why it has gone are somewhat reassuring - i.e. its a slowly developing fault with the contacts that creates an increasingly big problem that feeds back on itself to make things worse. I had wondered if it would be an issue with the fan (as i think thats what the two worst fuses feed) but that does work on one speed and now I know its the fuseboard that was smoking.

Given the worn out switch in my other thread (from the same machine), I have ordered a new board and switch. I can try and repair this board in my spare time then (god knows when that will be then!).
