Modern Tractors have left the legislation behind.

So has every car on the road. Doesn't mean you can exceed the posted speed limit for the given vehicle.

increasing the speed limit for cars would be wrong as some roads wouldnt be safe

increasing the speed limit for tractors would make more sense as some new tractors are getting to the size of lorrys with similar brakes so why shouldnt they be allowed to go the same speed

i am in favour of a mot for trailer as i suspect many would fail as i have seen some right wrecks on the road

Probably becasue tractors will still drive 'over' cars etc whereas lorries are more likely (although not always) to push you away. With as much devastation to the vehicle, of course just not in the 'Z plane' where there isnt really any crumple zones ( lol ).
