Can' figure it out

G'Day everyone,

I've been pulling out the little hair that I have, trying to work out my settings.

I've got an entry level gas/gasless mig and, being the first time I've ever used this welder, I'm finding it hard to get my head around the settings.

I'm using 3mm LCS and .8mm gasless wire. I've changed the polarity as some of you have advised me in a previous post but I am unable to get the beads right.

I've attached a photo of the 5 various beads and an explanation of the setting which I've used. What's confused me in the first place was that the digital reading on the wire speed display, was showing a (-) negative reading, then it dawned that it must be due to the polarity being reversed compared to normal wire settings.

Can you please take a look at the pic and any advice which you provide will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I forgot to state that the AMPS were negative 150

turn volts up and move a bit slower

you really need to steady your hand and move along at a constant speed (hence the blobbing) try reducing your wire speed, small machines tend to increase the wire speed when you up the power setting, also make sure you clean the steel before you weld, nice shiny ground steel, no mill scale.

Also check that your ground clamp is making a good contact with the metal. Without this the amperage will be cut drastically.

When you say "wire size 0.9 / using 0.8" -

Im only a novice, but just to check, as im sure that ive heard using undersize wire for the tip can cause connectivity issues, i assume, similar to poor grounding?

Again, this is what ive heard, rather than what i know!

I've checked the tip, it's an 0.8mm and supposed to be the correct tip for the wire but I've also heard that using gasless wire, that I could be using a slightly larger tip. The wire seems to be feeding through the nurled rollers pretty well, no strain etc.
