Something i picked up at a car boot years ago and have never got round to using but tbh i’ve no idea what it’s for tbh.. The seller had no idea either..

No play in it whatsoever ever and very smooth, it’s obv a head of some kind but the collet is very small and unless it can be changed etc i can’t see what use it can be sadly ..

Hopefully the pics show it’s tapered inside.. Has a small pulley in situ also..

Any ideas.. ?

Well, I think...

That's some kind of collet chuck, at the business end.

Just down from there looks like a pulley for a v belt.

Small lathe milling attachment or some such?

Could maybe be a tool sharpener ?

That is for either:

tool and cutter grinder: it’s a collet for holding a mandrel on which cutters sit or directly holding cutters.

cylindrical grinder: again for holding workpieces. Perhaps as a tailstockx

D-bit/ engraver tool grinder: again for holding toolbits
