Can anyone recomend CCTV system.

Hi guys. The local area has had a few attempted break in's latly and it's making me nervous. As well as booby traping the garage ect I would like to get a good CCTV system. I'm after 2 - 4 wireless cameras, out door use, a receiver that can record, motion sensitive in certain hours, remote access from phone ect and email alerts. I'm sure some of you will have a system. Looked on net and there is so many. Some have good reviews but there is always that one person that hates it and puts everyone else off. Hope you guys can help. Ebay is full of stuff but more than likely knock off crap.

i have real good quality low light cameras floodlights and infrared beams round house but they still cant see through a balaclava i just know when they are on property and sort it with my trusty hockey stick if they hang around long enough

Best advice, unless you live in the wilds, is to forget wireless. There is far too much congestion on the narrow band available for reliable operation.

As a rule, you get what you pay for. We do professional CCTV with systems built to spec. We do one DIY kit though, four IR cameras, Network DVR, power supplies and cables etc, for £499.00

If you insist against advice to go wireless, a two camera with monitor is around £300

we have just changed our cctv system for a hd one. 4 channel dvr wired ours in cat5 cable and use balluns to convert the signal you can run the power down the cat5 too, i think it will do max of about 100m without any issues i used two pairs for the power. now just waiting for some hd cameras to turn up the dvr is a IQ HD960H with a terrabite drive in it. has been spot on, nice and easy to set up and descent laptop and phone software too so cant fault it really. Alien do some good stuff too!

We have just installed a swan system from costco in our office and workshop, they do an outside version but not sure if the cameras are wireless.. but as said above the wireless cams are not that could if the wireless frequencys are congested in the area, also they can be prone to bein hacked or the signals blocked.

The Swan ones do everything you have mentioned above, they come with 4 cameras but the box can take 8. Very easy to install and get the remote access setup.
