Might be that they killed the swager, bought in the swaging.

Well. This arrived today

I had the reduction formed by the eBay seller above and then sent to @Tupers who kindly added the swage and sent on to me. Big thanks to Chris for doing this - it will be a tidy solution and easy to fix when things the couplers need replacing in the future. The Ford solution was over £200. This, inc pipes, will come in under £50 and replacement pipes can be purchased anywhere in future.
