Can anyone identify these material markings.

A retired old duffer friend of mine recently purchased a sheet of material from Dereham auction for the princely sum of £1.00. However he does not know what it is, a jeweller friend says it is not a hallmark, and I think it might be Tin shimming.

Description about 300mm X 300m X0.4mm thick

Untarnish silver colour with these markings in the top right corner.

Definitely not my field but a quick search and possibly a german manufacturer’s mark, as the image seems to appear on the base of some pewter jugs and teapots that have been sold on ebay

Pewter was going to be my guess too.

I don't know much about pewter but that looks like a sheet of rolled silver to me. A plating anode perhaps?

I’m sure the ‘55’ relates to silver, but I cant remember what or why

On the pot you have F. W. & J.+ the crossed arrows I think 55 is a % of something, looks as if it is part of a large piece may be a tray
