Can Anyone ID This Tool?

Sorry for the photo, it's from an ad I spotted. It's sitting on the table of a large qualters & smith pillar drill. To me it looks like a rotary table, if so any idea what it's worth?

I'm considering buying the drill but it's priced at over £200 so the value of table might make it a worthwhile buy.

yeah, come sort of rotary table, prob worth 50 squids...perhaps a little more if someone's desperaate to own it......
the drill post looks nice and clean, whats the rest like ?...........shame there's no table lift mech........
I'd say go for it, decent floor standing pillar drill's don't come around that often.........
My Meddings was bought 30 years ago for a £125 so to me this seems reasonable.........

Probably this, there doesn't appear to be a winding handle which makes it an indexer rather than a rotary.

You rarely see them for sale over here, if I get the table and drill I think it will be a good investment. If I ever sell the table I'll be able to get back a good chunk of my investment.

I think that's either for a clamp or for controlling the detent.

Indexers usually can be set on end as per the pic above so I think it is more likely a rotary table. Also doesn't look deep enough in the base for the indexing plates.

I think it's a simple 24-hole indexer. The handle pulls a spring loaded plunger and you can just see the fuzzy image of a ring of holes drilled in the OD of the rotating base.

I've got some better pics & I think you are correct. The seller has no idea what it is.

The handle looks like it operates a locking pin. What would you normally use this for - I'm guessing for machining holes of numbers dividable into 24?
What is this type of table worth? Guessing not too much because it's so basic?

I stand corrected, looks like plenty of room for the plates although there doesn't seem to be a brake/lock in that one.
It is for doing things such as multiple hole patterns, also can be used for example for hexing stock, slotting patterns etc.

Ask the guy if there are any other dividing plates as there may blanks (although it doesn't look set up for them) or even a different master plate.

Not so handy as the type pictured above that can be placed with the axis parallel to the table , an angle plate could be used if needed in that orientation. Still a handy piece of kit on a manual machine.


I have a Hartford Super Spacer which I just about sold when I got the CNC but I am glad I didn't as it is still used on occasions.

I was chatting to the guy tonight & he does house clearances so what ever was on the drill when he found it is all there is. So just the basic indexing table but he said there was a box of drill bits.

I left a deposit on the drill & I'm going to see it next week. The drill is a QDM 750 which is a rebadged kerry super 8, with the same back gear giving a range of speeds from 82 to 3000 rpm!
