I have this tilting vice with H Hall stamped on it I bought it to use on my lathe but it’s to heavy has anyone an idea of the vice at all or even who H Hall was as maybe a bit of someone’s home made tooling
It's beautiful, (I know - I need help...) - DONT throw it out. I would suggest H Hall is the name of the "custodian/machinist" when it was in use but I will gladly stand to be corrected. It looks like a special application fitment for a milling machine. Somebody somewhere will want this so I would advertise wisely - price wise - I guess the base line is what you have in it, but I wouldn't expect to see something like this advertised for anything under 3 figures.
I’ve decided to keep it as it’s to nice to sell. I have found details online of a Harold hill who made lathe and milling toolings so it might be him. I think there’s to much history in this to sell it especially when it cost me £30. I’m not in it to make money it’s a hobby I would rather learn about the history of a piece I’m sure I will find a use for it even if it’s just to display it.
