Can anyone help me identify my welder and give me some idea of what it might be worth ? I want to sell it, but as a welding novice I have no idea how much to be asking for it or how to tell people exactly what I’m selling.
I bought it a few years ago from an auction with the intention of learning to weld at some point but never got round to it and it’s been stored in my garage ever since. Now I’m moving to Germany soon and it’s too big and heavy to justify lugging halfway across Europe just so I can stash it in my garage for another 5 years.
There is no branding or trademark on it, and the only clue I have is that it looks very similar to a MUREX welder one of my friends owns, but unlike his, it doesn’t have the MUREX name on it anywhere that I can find. It’s also a different color, his is red.
It seems to be in good working order, the wire feed works well and it strikes a good arc but other than that, I am unable to test it further. It’s tatty on the outside but clean on the inside, and the torch and earth clamp have seen better days but still seem to be serviceable.
I put some pictures here: www.purplemadness.co.uk/MIG/MIG.html
How much can I expect to get for it and how do I describe it when I advertise it ?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
