Plus one for a DSLR. The reason is speed. An SLR captures focus immediately because the focus works thru the lens. A compact camera has to search for focus by which time the moment is missed.
I wouldn't bother with fake DSLR.
The Panasonic ive mentioned has post focus on it so it sorts it out for you it even preburst so can literally take a photo before ive pressed the shutter button so is more than quick enough for me
As said i am not a photographer and the point and shoot is important to me and im sure there are others on here with the same thoughts hence why i thought a brief review might be helpful as everything i found on the internet while looking was geared towards amateur photographers rather than a bloke that wants to take a picture once in a while
