Found out today my drill has a mt4 taper. And the back gear all works fine. Next on the list will be a large motor to power it
MT4 means it is rated to drill a 2" hole!
I can't remember what motor was in mine but I was surprised how small it was. I guess due to all the gearing it doesn't need a huge hp motor to drive it. I'll look tomorrow what size it is.
When you get it running you will be amazed how slow it runs, you can literally count the revolutions! It's very satisfying to go straight to drilling a 25mm hole from a 5mm pilot & watch those big thick curls of swarf coming from the bit as it eats through the metal very quickly.
Just make sure the metal is well clamped - you will not be able to hold it if it snatches & you definitely wont stall the drill!
Meh. Think bigger...Have not started the drill yet.....
But on my quest for hunting for stuff I did spot this walker turner radial drill....and I want oneView attachment 148737
