Calling all R-Tech Owners

Hello All,
I have done some basic research into buying a welder (AC/DC Tig). Reputation and aftersales service appears to be very high for R-Tech Machines. The two models I have narrowed this down to are: T161-1 and T201-1: Two questions:

1) Would you buy a R-Tech again?
2) Are there any better alternatives around the same price points, that you discovered after you purchased your R-Tech?

Sorry for the basic "what do I buy" novice question but it will be a significant investment for whart will be a hoby!

Got the 161 and I am very happy with it, it does everything I wanted, got it for a good price with a foot peddle

Didn't find anything else with service and price point and yes I would buy again

Will be watching this thread as I might be after a Tig welder sometime and they seem to press the right buttons.

The R-tech pretty much have the quality low cost end of the market sewn up.

If you look up some of my posts you can see what I've done with the 161. I've got the pedal with it. Like that apart from gas and electrodes you get enough bits to do a wide range of things. Very well featured machine, I've been doing mild steel and aluminium work with it so far. Only misdemeanor has been a sticking gas valve, quick call to RTech, you actually get put straight through to the tech guy, he gave me 3 options to sort the problem (dismantle/clean/adjust myself, have a new gas valve sent or they'd pick it up), sorted it myself. Yes I'd definitely buy another one.

I couldn't find better alternatives at the price. IFL units look interesting, but they are a bit more and I'm not clear on the feature set.

Out of the two you mention, I think if you had the cash, the 200A is better, you'll find some jobs warrant the extra oomph (particularly ally)

i have a r tech 251 ac/dc

not used it as much as hoped yet but its done all i've asked of it as well as my skill level will allow.

plenty of power, nice to weld with.

the R tech regulators are utter crap tho took mine back and swaped it over for a parweld one made a big differance much better now

I will take the usuel 'cooling' peroid before I take the plunge, Cumdriasteve, if you have anymore feedback I'd liket to hear about it.
