Some advice please.
Our 15yo shower has seen better days, so an upgrade was overdue. I've been mentally scarred by plumbing disasters in the past and so have avoided this sort of thing (read: lack of experience).
I've managed to replace the Mira Excel cartridge with no drama and it's working fine.
Our shower head which looks similar to this is a different story. My wife wanted a big shower head on a long arm (no jokes please). Hopefully I've managed to attach a photo of the one we bought below (very cheap, just to try it out). Having taken the old chrome effect shower head/arm off, I'm faced with all the gubbins that attaches it to the wall (pictured). Maybe it would have been a better idea if I'd actually done this BEFORE buying a new arm & head, but there you go. Having watched several "How to replace your shower head" vids I had wrongly assumed that I could just unscrew the old one and pop the new one on. It doesn't look that straight forward.
So my questions are:
1) Can I attach the new arm to the existing gubbins on the wall with a bit of modification to the wall bracket?
2) The shower head feels a bit heavy when attached to the arm. The support for the pipe in the wall has to be strong enough to take the weight (hence why I don't want to muck about with the existing bracket too much). It'll be a real hassle if I have to get behind to wall to do any plumbing.
Any advice welcome!
